A MEDITATION
WRITTEN THE DAY AFTER GEORGE HARRISON DIED
Why did The Beatles cause otherwise sane teenagers and adults to absolutely lose control around them and why until this day, is the ground they walked on so venerated by so many people ?
Here is a possible explanation to Beatlemania - and a theory you probably haven't considered or heard anywhere else.
Like Prophets of old, G-D chose The Beatles to exude through their speech thoughts, deeds and appearances a tiny part of the shechina that normally remains hidden but resides in the soul of each person. This aura of G-dliness which came out through their music, behavior on screen and philosophy caused hysteria in the souls of their audience. Naturally, the most holy part of a human's soul, the one containing a piece of G-D, once awoken stirred with the desire to be reunited with this G-dliness pouring out of every song, picture, and philosophical breakthrough The Beatles introduced.
Once Beatlemania was established with their early pop wonders and performances (notably The Ed Sullivan appearance shortly after the assassination of J.F.K.) G-d inspired The Beatles to infuse their music with their messages of peace, love and brotherhood of man.
With all the bloodshed and violence which dominated the twentieth century up until then it was imperative the last generation before redemption learn from a source they trusted that "love is all you need" "nothing is real" "say the word and you'll be free...the word is love."
This in turn inspired other musicians of that same era to sing that "fighter jet planes flying shotgun in the sky in war turned into butterflies above our nation" and that as a whole, "we've got to get ourselves back to the garden."It is a statistical fact that when Harrison played the never been heard Sitar on Beatle song "Norwegian Wood" the western world was by and large formally introduced to eastern ways of mysticism and spirituality. Even many impressionable young Jews went seeking their spirituality in the form of Hinduism, Hare Krishna and transcendentalism - uneducated and unaware of the infinite wellspring of inspiration contained in Judaism - specifically Kabbalah and Chassidism. (Thank G-d through the efforts of Jewish outreach programs such as Chabad and others, many of these turned on neshamas have returned to Judaism as "Baalay Tshuvas.")
Going beyond the mere introduction of the Sitar, Harrison himself personally and publicly devoted his adult life as an uncompromising seeker of Eastern enlightenment and insight. Contrast that with most other entertainment "idols" who simply bask in the glow of the mass worship and adulation Harrison learned and in turn taught that "life goes on within you and without you." George was, is and always will be integral to The Beatles' ongoing preparation of the world for it's immanent redemption.*
